Custom Chatrooms/Two-Way Chat for your teams

In Fall 2024, we released DigiChat selectively to any customer that previously signed up (reach out via the chat if you would like to test drive this module!) in order to get some feedback from our Admin/SuperAdmin users.

Differing from our Messaging Module (which is a one-way outbound messaging system), DigiChat is a two-way group chat feature available for location and position groups, as well as customized lists of employees (one on one direct messages or team/group messages):

Key Features

  • DigiChat appears in the Employees menu, which will be highlighted (currently with a red dot) when there is a new message

  • Read Receipts! 🀩 Need to make sure your staff saw your post about the updated employee handbook? How about that URL to your new Custom Form required for all staff? Send a link to the My Schedule page to remind your staff to check their upcoming shifts. Read receipts are the best way took make sure ALL staff have eyes on what is most important... and for you to see who among them just aren't seeing it.

  • DigiChats are currently managed by creators - meaning that any staff person (granted access to the module) can create a chat privately based on individual employees, or groups by position or location
    ​

  • This module works like most others: each employee will need to be granted access via their profile under their "Access" box. So Admin and/or SuperAdmin (who currently have access by default) will need to turn it on for select staff. (i.e. Export just your guard staff in the spreadsheet, set the column to "Y", save and import -- or switch it on manually per each employee profile. For details on how to do this in mass, visit this help article).

One of the first pieces of feedback we are asking Admin/supervisors to ethically consider is whether ALL chats be visible to Admin. A close follow-up: should Admin be able to delete all messages and chats. (Remember, Admin can already revoke an employee's access to DigiChat, effectively removing them from all chats). A poll is currently being sent out to help inform our team's forthcoming update to this module, which is already in progress.

Known Issues

  • There is no way to delete a chat someone else created, but there should soon be a method for archiving them, then sorting (current vs. archived/past) and deleting them permanently once archived (if you are an Admin/SuperAdmin).

  • Soon, there should be a mobile web app notification for chats displayed as a text banner on every page (to alert you of a new message for your chat groups), or a notification icon in the menu:
